How A Dream Becomes Reality

Contemporary Kitchen, Woking

At the very outset of our process, we sit down with you and get a detailed client brief from you. Our experience and knowledge over many years leads us to asking the right questions to ensure we match our design with your brief. If your kitchen doesn’t work for you, no matter how good it looks, you will soon fall out of love with it. Every kitchen in every home is individual, bespoke to how you live your life and that is why at the very start of our journey with you we focus on asking first and foremost how you want to use this space.

For this particular client in Woking, Surrey, in our redesign of their kitchen we removed the tall units on the right-hand side that housed the ovens, allowing space for an island in the kitchen and bar stool seating for up to 5 people. This also ensured that the thoroughfare was a much safer path to the chill out area for their 4 boys, something that has always been of particular concern for the couple.

The new flex induction hob with built-in extractor was positioned in the island, making cooking and mealtimes much more sociable occasions and the single ovens, along with a steam oven and microwave placed in a much more practical position. An integrated dishwasher, a warmer drawer, wine cooler and American Fridge Freezer completed the appliance requirements and were all incorporated within the kitchen design seamlessly.

Once our 2D plan is complete we then utilise the latest in 3D CAD software to enable us to present our proposed kitchen design to you. This is such a beneficial tool in the design process as it really allows you to engage with the design process and get a feel for what your new kitchen will look and feel like. One of the most exciting aspects of the initial process is talking styles and colour palettes, and although not key in the decision-making process at this stage, it is important to get a feel for your colour palette preference and furniture style so that when we come to present your visuals to you, we don’t present something that really isn’t going to resonate with you.

A grey colour palette is certainly very popular with clients at the moment and it’s no surprise when it looks this good! The key is mixing different shades with different textures and for our client on this project, they went with the Tema Dark Concrete kitchen cabinetry in matt finish, which gives a real contrast against the Vida Silk Grey in a gloss finish, both beautifully complemented by 30mm Silestone ‘Gris Expo’ worksurfaces.
