Location: West Byfleet, Surrey
Style: Painted Shaker – Linton Door
Colours: Talpa & Marine Blue
Work Surfaces: Attera Blanco Quartz by Caesarstone
Earlier this summer, we had the pleasure of completing a stunning kitchen renovation in West Byfleet, transforming a tired and enclosed space into a light-filled open-plan family kitchen overlooking the beautiful River Wey.
Our clients wanted to create a kitchen that truly reflected the way their family lives — a space that combines functionality, comfort, and connection. The key to achieving this transformation was removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, allowing for a complete redesign that embraces open-plan living.
The Design: Classic Shaker Style with a Contemporary Twist
We designed a Painted Shaker Kitchen using our timeless Linton door in a sophisticated Talpa finish, paired with the striking Marine Blue as an accent colour. This combination not only complements the riverside setting but also brings warmth and depth to the room.
The Attera Blanco quartz work surfaces from Caesarstone provide a beautiful, durable finish that enhances light throughout the kitchen — perfect for busy family life.
Smart Living with Functional Elegance
Every detail of the design was tailored to how the family uses the space.
- A hob positioned in the peninsular allows the cook to stay connected with guests and enjoy views of the river and garden.
- Tall integrated fridges and freezers provide generous storage for weekly shopping and entertaining.
- The addition of a Quooker Flex Hot Tap delivers hot, cold, boiling, and filtered drinking water from a single, sleek tap — a modern essential for family living.
The result is a kitchen that perfectly balances practicality with style — a space where cooking, socialising, and everyday moments naturally flow together.
Dining Redefined: Connecting Spaces with Purpose
To enhance the flow between the new kitchen and dining areas, we designed shallow-depth dining furniture using kitchen cabinetry with 20mm quartz work surfaces and a lower plinth height.
This creates a seamless visual connection between the two areas while offering a distinct dining room feel — ideal for entertaining or relaxed family meals.
The Finishing Touches
To complete the look, we worked with our clients to introduce a feature wallpaper from Little Greene, complemented by carefully chosen wall paint colours. These finishing touches add personality, warmth, and balance to the overall design.
What was once a dark, dated kitchen is now an inspirational open-plan family space — perfect for Sunday morning pancakes, homework sessions, and everything in between.
A Kitchen for Today and Tomorrow
This West Byfleet renovation shows just how transformative open-plan design can be. By simply removing one wall, we’ve created a bright, connected space that enhances how the family lives every day — and will continue to do so for years to come.
