Location: West Byfleet, Surrey
Style: Painted Shaker – Linton Door
Colours: Talpa & Artichoke
Work Surfaces: Quartz ‘Blanco Misterio’
This spring, we had the pleasure of transforming a newly purchased property in West Byfleet, Surrey, into a warm, functional and beautifully personal family home, a forever home. Our client approached us with a clear vision: a spacious, open-plan kitchen where she could cook, bake, and spend precious time with her grandchildren—while also making the home distinctly her own.
The Brief: Remodel + Extension for Modern Family Living
The project required a complete remodel of the rear of the home, including an extension to create a brighter, larger, and more connected living space. The original Utility Room, previously accessed directly from the kitchen, was relocated into the small reception room positioned between the kitchen and living room. This reconfigured space was then redesigned to incorporate a new utility, shower room, and downstairs cloakroom.
The former Utility Room was opened up and absorbed into the new kitchen layout, creating the expansive open-plan space our client envisioned—perfect for family gatherings, cooking together, and day-to-day living.
The Design: Warm, Earthy Shaker Style with Modern Functionality
For the main kitchen, our client opted for our popular Painted Shaker Linton Door, finished in the elegant, earthy shade of Talpa, complemented by the rich accent colour Artichoke. This palette brings depth, comfort, and timeless style to the space.
The look is completed with ‘Blanco Misterio’ white quartz worksurfaces, which add brightness and a refined contrast to the cabinetry. We guided our client on wall colour choices, selecting Farrow & Ball ‘Treron’—a deep, warm green that provides a cosy backdrop and creates a beautiful visual connection with the garden.
