A Seamless Open-Plan Kitchen Designed for Living
Completed in the spring of this year, this project is a wonderful example of how thoughtful design and a simple structural change can transform the way a home feels and functions.
Our clients’ original layout had evolved over time — what was once a dining room had become a TV room, and the dining table had been pushed into the lounge, making entertaining almost impossible. The overall space felt disjointed, with little connection between areas that should naturally flow together.
By removing the dividing wall between the kitchen and the former dining room, we were able to completely reimagine the space — creating a bright, open-plan kitchen that blends informal seating at the island with a beautifully integrated dining area. The result is a layout that finally works for both everyday family life and social gatherings.
The Design: Classic Shaker Style with a Modern Twist
The new kitchen features our Linton door, a timeless painted shaker design, brought to life in a stunning two-tone colour palette. The soft warmth of Talpa is perfectly complemented by the rich, statement shade of Forest Green — a pairing that feels both contemporary and enduring.
This elegant combination is finished with American Bronze handles and white quartz work surfaces, creating a calm, balanced aesthetic with just the right amount of contrast.
An inviting island with bar stool seating anchors the kitchen, offering a relaxed spot for coffee, breakfast, or evening drinks, while the formal dining table sits seamlessly within the same open-plan space — ideal for entertaining family and friends.
Appliances Tailored to Everyday Life
As with every project, we took the time to understand exactly how our clients cook and live before finalising the appliance specification. There’s no “one size fits all” approach — our goal is always to ensure every feature earns its place and enhances daily life.
The final selection strikes the perfect balance between functionality and lifestyle, offering state-of-the-art performance where it matters most, without unnecessary extras that don’t suit the way our clients cook.
Bringing the Indoors & Outdoors Together
Both the kitchen and dining spaces now open effortlessly onto the rear garden, creating an idyllic setting for family life and summer entertaining. Natural light floods through, enhancing the sense of openness and connection throughout the back of the home.
What was once a series of disconnected rooms has been transformed into a harmonious, social hub that truly reflects how this family loves to live.
