Kitchens – No Longer Just for Cooking

Open Plan Kitchens have been around for quite a while now, but with COVID-19 being such a game changer not only for us wanting to improve our homes for relaxing and socialising in, for some of us also needing to incorporate ‘working from home’!

Having renovated our own kitchen 11 years ago, it certainly changed the way we lived and greatly enhanced family life. Not only have we had great parties in this space over the last decade, but it enabled us to prepare and cook dinner whilst our boys sat at the island doing their homework. It isn’t just a space where you are tucked away to prepare a meal, it is now the hub of the home and provides multi-functional areas where we can all be together.

With lots of separate individual rooms, family life can sometimes feel disjointed and although some would argue that some open plan spaces lack a sense of cosiness or have a defined space, with clever design ideas this can easily be overcome.
